These are a few questions that may have crossed your mind concerning our organization and service(s):
1. What is Mobile Healthcare?
A unique concept of bringing medical care to the comfort and convenience of a patient's home. It is an integral part of the healthcare delivery system and a key component to help a patient achieve 'Best Health Status'. Encompassing a wide range of health services like nursing care, physiotherapy, diet counseling and health education delivered by professionally qualified healthcare personnel it is a cost effective alternative to hospital and nursing home stays.
2. What are the benefits of Mobile Healthcare?
Expedites recovery by focusing on early rehabilitation and health education with care and understanding. Eases the burden of family members and caregivers by accelerating patients' return to normal Activities of Daily Living (ADL). The duration of hospitalization is shortened by providing continuity of treatment at home. Shortened hospital stay in turn reduces the risk of hospital infections.
3. How is recuperating at home in comparison to prolonged hospital stay?
Studies clearly show that generally, recovery is sooner in the comfort and security of the home, closed to loved ones, among familiar surroundings.
4. Who is Mobile Healthcare suitable for?
The service will cater to a broad range of patients. The first will be patients (or the people who care for them) who opt for the service due to time constraints and an aversion to spending large amounts of time getting to and from hospitals, waiting in line for treatment that can otherwise be delivered at home. The second will be patients who have limited mobility and as a matter of necessity, find home nursing a practical solution. And then you have those that simply prefer convalescing in the comfort of their own home.
5. Are only the aged looked after in Mobile Healthcare?
Our range of services caters to all ages.
6. Is this service provided only for patients discharged from specific hospitals?
No, Love on Wheels services is not limited to patients discharged from any one hospital. We are in fact in discussions with a number of medical facilities to make the coordination and delivery of this service more efficient for patients.
7. Will using your service interfere with my doctor's treatment?
There will be no interference, as Love on Wheels' service does not replace nor contradict a doctor's advice or treatment. In fact we encourage patients to have an attending doctor. In this way the care plan can be designed together with the doctor and the doctor can be kept in the information loop with regards to the patient's progress.
8. Are your healthcare personnel trained?
Yes, all Love on Wheels healthcare personnel are professionally qualified/registered and continuously enhance their skills and knowledge to ensure that their competency & quality of service is consistently at the highest levels.
9. How do I engage Love on Wheels Mobile Healthcare Services?
You may contact us via telephone, e-mail or fax. An assessment of your service requirement is done over the telephone. Subsequent to this a home visit for assessment of the patient and care planning is scheduled at your convenience. Following this the care plan and costing is finalised and you will be informed. You will then confirm the date of commencement of service.
10. What is care/treatment planning? How is this plan decided?
Care planning is the process of determining the type of care required taking into consideration the needs of the patient. It involves the patient and/or patient's family members and Love on Wheels' healthcare personnel (nursing &/or rehabilitation personnel: physiotherapist, occupational therapist, dietician). If there is an attending doctor then the doctor will be an important part of this process. In the case of post hospitalisation patients, care is taken to ensure continuity of the healing process be it wound management, rehabilitation or special needs. This process helps to minimize disruption to treatment and helps optimize healing
11. Are your healthcare personnel available, anytime?
Queries and Appointments need to be made during our office hours, 9.00am - 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. However, service provision schedule will be determined once the assessment has been done and care plan drawn the relevant healthcare personnel will be assigned. The company however will assess individual needs on a case to case basis.
12. How quickly can services be provided?
Generally, after a preliminary assessment via the telephone, a home visit and assessment will be scheduled to understand the needs of the patient and determine treatment requirements within 48 hours.
13. What is your area of coverage?
The service covers the Klang Valley but will in time expand to include the rest of the nation
14. What is the cost of Mobile Healthcare?
Cost is determined by 3 factors i.e. type of treatment the patient requires, frequency of treatment that needs to be administered and duration of the treatment. If one compares the total cost of mobile healthcare to that of being treated as an in-patient in hospital, together with hidden costs incurred as a result of family members' time away from work and loss in productivity, our rates will be found to be an affordable alternative.
15. Are your services covered by insurance?
Please consult your insurer with regards to this. Some policies do cover home Healthcare services Others do not cover home healthcare services specifically but some of these may compensate under post-hospitalisation claims.
16. Do you provide training to domestic helpers?
This is a service that is planned for roll out in 2011.
