Dietary counselling provides personalised nutritional care and advice to modify eating habits of an individual. This can assist in both the prevention and treatment of nutrition related illnesses such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. This is in line with our aim to educate and empower individuals to take responsibility for their own health.
Expedites recovery by focusing on early rehabilitation and health education with care and understanding. Eases the burden of family members and caregivers by accelerating patients’ return to normal Activities of Daily Living (ADL). The duration of hospitalization is shortened by providing continuity of treatment at home. Shortened hospital stay in turn reduces the risk of hospital infections.
Occupational Therapy, often abbreviated as “OT”, is a treatment focused on helping a patient with disabilities to achieve independence in all areas of daily life. Our Occupational Therapist will assess, plan, and organize rehabilitative programs that help restore daily living, homemaking, and vocational skills, as well as general independence, for a disabled person. Our OT’s focus on areas of the patient’s life which are challenging and design a care plan that can assist the patient in performing these activities in a more functional, successful and independent way. Our occupational therapists are also specialised in designing individualised care plans and successfully executing treatment for special needs children in both home settings and community based rehabilitation facilities. Some of the clinical conditions managed include but are not limited to autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD), down syndrome and multiple disabilities.
Physiotherapy is treatment focused on human function and movement directed at evaluating, restoring and maintaining physical function of a patient. Physiotherapists or physical therapists have a detailed understanding of how the body works and are specially
educated and trained to assess and improve movement and function of the body, and to relieve pain. Physiotherapy has several disciplines which are: Cardiovascular & Respiratory, Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Paediatric, Geriatric, Women’s Health,
Men’s Health, Sports, and Electrotherapy.
Cardiovascular and respiratory physiotherapy involves the management of a wide variety of cardiorespiratory conditions. These include chest, heart, and lung related conditions like obstructive pulmonary
disease, asthma and pulmonary fibrosis. In this field, we provide cardiac rehabilitation such as cardiac training, chest physiotherapy, chest clearance techniques, suction, enhancing lung capacity, mobility and bed exercises.
Musculoskeletal physiotherapy involves the management of disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system which encompasses muscles, bones, joints, nerves, tendons, ligaments and spinal discs. Our physiotherapists
are trained in the rehabilitation of post-operative orthopedic procedures, fractures, sports injuries, arthritis, sprains, strains, back and neck pain, spinal conditions and amputations. Joint and spine mobilization/manipulation, therapeutic
exercise, and neuromuscular re-education are some of the methods used in this area of rehabilitation.
Neurological physiotherapy focuses on the management of conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These include brain injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury,
and stroke. Common impairments associated with neurologic conditions include impairments of vision, balance, and ambulation, activities of daily living, movement, muscle strength and loss of functional independence. Our physiotherapists focus
on rehabilitating these patients to regain their function to their best potential and subsequently improving their quality of life.
Pediatric physiotherapy deals with rehabilitating conditions in infants and children such as congenital conditions, developmental delays, neurological, musculoskeletal and respiratory conditions. These include clinical
conditions like cerebral palsy, cerebral ataxia, torticollis, asthma, down syndrome, multiple disabilities, delayed physical milestones, and fractures. Rehabilitation focuses on improving motor skills, balance and coordination, stretching and
strengthening exercises, and stimulation to activate targeted muscles and nerves. All therapeutic care plans will focus on promoting and furthering independence in movement, and activities of daily living that involve both physical and mental
effort.
Geriatric physiotherapy relates to rehabilitation for conditions involving the aged (65 and older). These conditions include balance problems, fractures, and post knee and hip replacement operations. Rehabilitation focuses
on pain relief, strength, flexibility and balance improvement aiming to achieve independence and quality of life.
Women’s health physiotherapy is a specialised area which addresses women’s issues related to pregnancy, post delivery, and post mastectomy. These include lymphedema, osteoporosis, pelvic pain, prenatal and post-natal
periods, urinary incontinence, and low back pain.
Men’s health physiotherapy is specialised in dealing with conditions experienced by men such as pelvic floor dysfunction, bladder and bowel problems, and pelvic girdle pain.
Sports physiotherapy involves the care of sportsmen and sportswomen, rehabilitating them to regain their best performance. Sports injuries include muscle strains, fractures, and ligament and cartilage tears. Rehabilitation
focuses on achieving pre injury fitness through massage, exercises and electrotherapy. We also emphasise on injury prevention and education.
This specialty is widely used in musculoskeletal conditions. It is useful in pain management to facilitate healing at the cellular level and in enhancing neurological rehabilitation. The forms of electrotherapy we provideare
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), Ultrasound and Infrared.
